Operation Wolf This was an arcade classic, you had an Uzi
mounted on the arcade machine, enough to make anti-gun advocates scream
in horror. You used it to shoot enemie sholdiers in the face while
rescueing hostages from the enemy camp.
The game was a hit in the arcade, in my
mind, due to the machine gun mounted on the machine, it was a DOOM
predecessor of sorts. Once again without the machine gun I found the
game to become boring very quickly.
The Commodore version suffered from blocky
graphics, but it has color which is obviously lacking on the Spectrum,
the sound and in between operations map were however done well. The
Spectrum version's graphics are really good, taking the machines
limitations in mind. The game scrolls slow enough so that no jitter or
disapearing graphics are detected. Well done to the programmers for
making this work.
The two versions compare well on playability, keeping taking the lack
of the Uzi in mind. A good enough conversion and in my mind a draw
between the two machines.
